Flights to Tenerife

The island of Tenerife lies in the Atlantic Ocean, some 180 miles from the African coast of Morocco. It is the largest and most populous of the Canary Islands. The capital city is Santa Cruz, in the north of the island, while major resorts include Puerto de la Cruz, Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas.

Most tourist flights head for Reina Sofia airport, and this relatively new facility is now one of Spain’s busiest, particularly in the winter months. With so much custom, the airport has a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants to choose from. Scheduled bus services, taxis and car hire are plentiful.

With the Canary Islands special tax status, the airports have good duty-free facilities, although you’ll find cheaper prices in the local shops.
